The Agency Games

Unifying a fragmented industry

Even at the best of times, the creative industry is a little fragmented — and that’s been especially the case after two years of COVID disruption and isolation.

We thought there was an opportunity to embrace the inherently competitive nature between agencies and get Christchurch’s agencies together for an evening of fun and slightly absurd games. We developed the name, concept, identity and a dedicated microsite for The Agency Games — an evening of games between Ōtautahi’s talented creative agencies. The idea is to host The Agency Games every year, and to take it nationwide.

Inventing the games...

The games themselves were a mix of our own twists on classics like snap, and ones we completely invented from scratch (such as TP Tower in which you had to race to stack toilet paper rolls as high as you could). All up, we remixed or invented six games: Snap Sofa, TP Tower, Water Pong, Dart Breaker, Rage Race, and Power Puck.

Crowning the inaugural winner

We desperately wanted to take out the title of the very first agency to win The Agency Games, and keep the trophy we hand made and painted, but the honour went to our friends at Madeknown. They truly brought their A game!
